Earbuds Not Working - 3 Ways to Fix It

08/11/2019

What you guys got another video here for you now. My microphone has stopped working inside Windows 10, when I update it to the latest version of Windows. 10 spring Edition 1803. You can see here the microphone is just stuck on and it's not recognizing it and when you go into the settings here, you can see that I have selected the microphone here and it won't work inside any sort of recorder in Windows 10 at all, and I'm Going to show you some of the steps you can take to try and rectify these problems with Windows 10. Now this has happened after I've upgraded my Windows 10 to the latest version using the Windows Update just go down to the system here.

You'Ll see that I am using the very latest version of Windows - Windows 10, Pro 1803 - and that was got today installed today. So, as you can see, we're going to do here is go down to the sound icon and just check some of these settings. If all go through with you, so first off we're going to use the troubleshooting tool to try to troubleshoot an issue with our audio or microphone you can see here. We'Ve got some options here. You need to choose the option for your microphone.

I'M gon na be choosing mine, which is this Focusrite USB, and you can see here turn off sound effects and enhancements I'll show you how to do that later on, but you can turn it off here. If you want to and then apply that fix, and then what will happen is it will go for a bunch of fixes and try to resolve that issue? Sadly, this didn't fix my problem. So what I'm gon na do is move on to the next step that you can take. So go back down to the sand, icon here and open up sounds and when we open this up. Another little box will pop up here now inside here, you'll see tabs at the top here, so we're going to take a look at playback now this will be your speakers or your audio that you want to hear sound from this. Is your play back and now you can see I'm getting no audio here at all showing up here when I do it on headphones speakers or any of that stuff. It'S just not working! So, no matter what I select here. None of it works. So the recording part would be my microphone and you can see here.

I am getting no audio on there when I'm speaking and a microphone for the headphones doesn't work either, and I even tried to plug in a little microphone into the 3.5 mm. I crow phone jack onto the computer and that didn't work as well. So you can see here we can take a look at the properties just to make sure that it's not muted inside here and then we've got everything running okay and you can see in the bottom use. This device has been enabled. The listen is, OK, continue running when the battery power, when you're on battery power - that's okay for laptops. The levels are: okay, it's at 100 % and there's no mute on there. So if you do see that little mute on they need to unmute it, and this go to advanced to everything - is running. Ok, you can use the restore defaults there if you're having issues and click on this.

But generally I don't need to do that because everything is ok inside here now. This is for the Focusrite USB part here. So I'm just going to take a look at so many other settings for the other pieces of hardware. I'Ve got plugged in. So let me go to properties here again, just want to take a look at so many other options here for somebody Everard where we've got the Logitech g6 free, free and we're going to go through here, make sure the levels are okay and it's not muted and I'Ve checked inside the software as well, and everything is running. Ok there. So it's not that that's not the problem, so I'm just going to quickly check here as well and the communications you can check on as well just make sure that is set to do nothing. So it doesn't reduce the volume of other sounds by 80 %. So I don't want to do that. So I'm going to put do nothing. There, click, OK and we can move on to another thing here, just to see what's happening here. So I'm going to go back down to the start by and go device manager now inside device manager.

You'Re gon na see your audio here, so you can check for your audio. You can see I've got a focus right, audio and these are installed and working now. If yours is not, then you need to check for updates so go on the internet and click on search for online updates. You can see it's saying that the update is fine and it's using the best driver possible for this hardware. Next thing you want to do is search for updated drivers on Windows updates, because we've just done a Windows Update, it's always best to check for updates. Just in case it needed to do more updates on there for other hardware. That'S on the system, so I'm just gon na do that now and let that run and that may take a bit of time. Ok, so there's no windows updates available, so we can go back into here and go back to properties here. Just want to show you here, so you can see here that the Vice is working properly and we check there. They go to driver here and you can see here, roll back driver. So if you've just done an update and it has updated your driver, you can sometimes roll back to a previous driver, and sometimes this can fix the issue. But you see mine's grayed out, so that means there's no other drivers on there there's also an uninstall device, which is something that you can do.

You can uninstall the driver on this and reboot the system, but if it's not got it stored on the system, you will need to download that driver from the manufacturers website and you I'll show you how to quickly do that in a second. You can see. We got the driver update, it was the 9th of the 1st 2018 and it gives you the driver version, but you want to go to the manufacturers website and download the driver for that particular piece of hardware and get that downloaded before you uninstall just in case. There'S any problems there so once you've done that you can move on to the next step. Now, if you are having issues with yellow exclamation marks, like you see here, then you need to uninstall and reinstall those drivers with the latest drivers. Ok, because there is an issue with the driver and the hardware, communicating so need to make sure that that is rectified now, if you'll see an unknown device like you can see here, then you need to go to the manufacturers website of that motherboard and download that The chipset drivers for that motherboard and then also download the audio drivers for that motherboard as well and install them and those unknown devices should disappear and you should be back up and running.

So, let's move on to the next one here, so gon na go down to start and in settings, click on the Settings tab here and then we want to go into privacy here inside here you can see there is an area called microphone. Click on this - and you can see here up the top - we do have an area, that's called microphone. Access for this device is on so you can see that is on now. If it's off, you need to turn it on. But another thing you need to look at here is below allow apps to access your microphone. Now if you've turned this feature off, because you've watched some spine, Microsoft, spying, video or something like that and you've disabled all these, then it won't work. Your microphone will be disabled. You can enable it, but it's best to enable it and then disable it for all the ones that you don't want it to work for, but you definitely want to use it for say, voice recorder or something like that. So you don't need it for photos and all the other stuff here, but whatever application you're using a microphone on you will need to leave it on. So I'm going to be doing voice recorder. Leave that on.

I can turn off the Xbox and game bar because I'm not using that - and you can see here once we have it just like this. We should be ok, so it's always best to leave, allow apps to access your microphone but turn off everything apart from the ones that you're using like Skype and stuff like that, if you are using Skype, otherwise you won't get no audio working on your system, so It can now close that off now. I just wanted to show you these advanced settings here, enhanced settings in sound. So let's go back into sounds here, and this is what a fix will try and do it. Ladies, and sometimes this fixes a lot of issues. So back into your sound here, you want to go to your speakers area. So let me just show you this part here, there's none inside here, but go back onto playback here and look at your speakers inside here and if you go to enhancements up the top here, you should see disable all sound effects, sometimes there's an issue with Windows. 10, for some reason and having these enabled can cause problems so disabling. All these sometimes rectify those problems, but normally, when you run the troubleshooting tool, it will give you the option to disable the enhancements via the troubleshooter and sometimes that can rectify the problem.

You can see I've turned off all the other features here as well, and sometimes that can fix the issue as well, but hopefully, after you followed all these fixes, your audio should now be working. You should be at a talk through your microphone. I'Ll just quickly show you here and, as you see once, we've done all our things. You should now see the audio working here and the microphone should be working. Fine once you've tested and changed all those settings there and hopefully you'll - be able to get your microphone working again, and this was due to the update to the latest spring edition of Windows. 10. 1803. Anyway, I'm going to wrap this one up. I hope this one helps you. My name is Brian from beretta computers, Codel, okay, thanks again for watching guys and thanks. We continue support bye for now.
